World Meteorological Organization: 2016 is almost now, the hottest year in history

Every month of this 2016 has been breaking temperature records globally. For the same reason, everything has led us to suppose that this year is about to become the hottest since there are records.

This has been made known by the World Meteorological Organization in an announcement made during a new day of the UN Climate Summit held in Marrakech.

"Everything seems to indicate that 2016 will be the hottest year, with an average temperature higher than the record set in 2015 ... If it is confirmed that 2016 is the warmest, the 21st century will have 16 of the 17 warmest years recorded since there are measurements at the end of the 19th century ", stated the WMO.

Due to the severity of this record, the organization asks that from now on temperature measurements be made with weekly values, in order to better establish the impact of climate change.

It should be remembered that these days COP22 is taking place in Marrakech, where the 190 participating countries must agree on how to put into operation the commitments made in the Paris Agreement last year.
