The myths of the Agrifood System

Esther Vivas dismantles one by one the myths on which the current agri-food system is built.

Esther Vivas has a degree in Journalism and a Master's in Sociology, is part of the Center for Studies on Social Movements (CEMS) at Pompeu Fabra University and is the author of several books on food sovereignty and critical consumption. It exposes the keys to the functioning of the current agricultural and food system, which it criticizes for being "a generator of hunger in a world of plenty" due to monopolies, speculation and the policies of globalization and privatization of the last decades. He denounces its effects on climate change, the loss of agro-diversity, the use of transgenics, petrodependence and the lack of food sovereignty of the population: "The same ones that led us to the subprime crisis are the ones who are now speculating with the food".
